Why become a City Advocate?

There are a lot of great reasons to become a DCA City Advocate!

Participant Benefits include:

  • Networking:
    • Meet leaders in the business, civic and non-profit communities
    • Meet other likeminded passionate individuals
    • Help build an active and cohesive Downtown community
    • Connect to and receive mentorship from DCA board members
  • Education:
    • Gain an insider's perspective on the work of DCA
    • Gain historical perspective on Downtown Cleveland as well as knowledge of current developments (including successes and challenges)
  • Privileges:
    • Gain exclusive exposure to places and spaces
    • Receive occasional discounted or free tickets to exclusive events
    • Link to other potential leadership/civic engagement activities (board service, volunteer opportunities, etc.)
    • Build your resume with your acceptance into this selective volunteer program

And if you're wondering what's in it for Downtown Cleveland Alliance, well...

The program helps advance our mission to make Downtown Cleveland the most compelling place to live, work and play in the region:

  • City Advocates work on projects that improve Downtown
  • City Advocates spread good news about Downtown throughout their networks
  • City Advocates invest in Downtown's future with their actions
  • City Advocates often also volunteer time to help with DCA and DCA family events, as well as other volunteer needs as they arise
  • City Advocates continue to play leadership roles and support Downtown's future independently of the program.

The program is also helping the Alliance diversify our leadership:

  • City Advocates present a pool of potential future leaders for our own Board of Directors as well as the boards of our partner organizations.  One past City Advocate has already been elected to a full term director position on the DCA board!
