Flats
The Flats boarder both banks of the Cuyahoga River, where the
city's founder Moses Cleaveland first landed in 1796. While the
Flats were originally an industrial district focused on maximizing
Great Lakes shipping routes, they have become more associated with
entertainment and residential living in the past 10 years.
On the west bank, the large residential development Stonebridge
already has hundreds of residents, and is looking to expand into
several new phases over the next couple years. In addition, a new
state-of-the-art aquarium is under construction inside the
Powerhouse, part of the Nautica Entertainment Complex. On the east
bank of the Flats, one of the city's most ambitious developments
has broken ground and is transforming the east bank into a thriving
mixed-use development.
