PlayhouseSquare
PlayhouseSquare is the nation's largest performing arts center
outside of New York City. Over 1 million people visit the theaters
of PlayhouseSquare every year. In addition to the Broadway shows,
Shakespeare, Opera, plays, concerts and educational programming,
PlayhouseSquare is a thriving neighborhood for technology companies
and partnerships with regional schools and universities.
Technology
The historic Idea Center Building was recently renovated and now
houses a number of small to large technology based companies,
including the studios of WCPN and WVIZ (Cleveland' Public
Broadcasting stations). PlayhouseSquare is home to innovative uses
for office space, as in the Hanna Tech Hotel. This innovative
program provides micro leases to small emerging tech firms looking
for space. The lease includes office furniture, internet connection
and use of conference rooms.
Educational Partnerships
PlayhouseSquare has fostered strong relationships with local
universities and their performing arts programs. Baldwin Wallace's
musical theater department has a long standing relationship with
PlayhouseSquare and Cleveland State University has recently
announced a partnership with the district to use the Allen Theater
as the home for their performance art programs.
